Paging through your favorite magazine have you ever caught yourself wondering how the beautiful spreads are created? And being the creative individual stylist that you are, have you ever thought, “I could do that, if not better!” Well that is what these 6 stylists thought and that is what they set out to accomplish with Vivienne Mackinder during the 4-day Photo-shoot Workshop held in Mackinder’s exclusive-privately owned studio in the Hamptons.
What does it take to make a stunning image? It takes an idea, a concept, and a team who are self-motivated, hard-working, and willing to sacrifice their own vision for the end result. From the photographer to the fashion stylist, the hair stylist to his/her assistant, the art director and set manager, each plays their own part in the final product.
“The 6 stylists who arrived on day one were not the same stylists who left on day four,” says fashion photographer David Guerrieri. In today’s fast pace, social media enthused workplace everyone has a camera and pictures of their work. Everyone has the ability to showcase their skills via Facebook, Twitter, and Insagram. But not everyone is able to work with a team of industry professionals to hone their skills and technique.
“Learn the rules before you break the rules,” is a message Vivienne Mackinder tries to instill in every one of her students.
"I believe the images speak for themselves. Each student came with an individual idea, practiced with earnest, hit roadblocks along the way, and ultimately found success in the images you see here."
