Salon Magazine is the foremost source for the news, trends and issues that shape the Canadian professional beauty industry. Since 1993, Salon has offered authoritative coverage on all aspects of salon life, from the latest industry news to exceptional interiors.

Focused and engaging, Salon Magazine’s award-winning content also extends to its interactive website, salon52.ca. Launched in 2007 and supported through a weekly on-line newsletter, salon52 keeps readers updated with breaking news, the latest hair and beauty collections, fun and inspiring and videos, interior tours and event coverage.

Publisher and president Laura Dunphy, who joined the publication over 10 years ago, says that her path from hairstylist to executive illustrates the diversity of opportunities that are available within the beauty industry. “The staff at Salon Magazine is just as passionate about putting out the publication as hairstylists and estheticians are about their craft,” she says. “Our smart and informative layouts and award-winning editorial content features key decision makers within the beauty world and draws in a variety of readers, from nail technicians to corporate employees.”

Salon Magazine also produces the Contessas, the Canadian Hairstylist of the Year Awards. Recently celebrating 20 years of beauty, the Contessas strive to reward and promote the skills and fashion-forward talent of Canadian hairstylists, nail technicians and makeup artists. The annual Contessa gala draws over 1,000 attendees and receives local, national and international media attention.
