Brief personal background
I’m 51 and fabulous! Started my working life as a “rock-star” in the 70’s and then after the heartbreak of the band’s split-up, my hairdresser talked me into joining his salon as an apprentice and I’ve never looked back. (Just like being a rock-star but spending your whole day playing with chicks’ hairs – how cool is that!) I met my wife Susa – who was one of those aforementioned chicks - started a salon with her, expanded into education and event management, evolved into publishing (in the meantime managing to produce two beautiful girls) and life has been good...

Potted History…
1975: started as a hairdressing apprentice
1979: managed a salon attached to a model agency
1980: worked full-time as an educator for Redken
1981: set up first business with Susa – a boutique salon in Brisbane, Australia
1988: became national guest artists for Matrix
1988: acquired Hair Expo with the view to creating Australia’s first national hair event and exhibition
1989: established Wynne-Hoelscher Academy for the vocational training of hairdressers
1991: moved Hair Expo to Sydney
1994: established THD Hair and Spa
1995: became national guest artists for KMS
1999: became national guest artists for L’Oréal Professionnel
2000: established culture Magazine
2004: after becoming the largest hair academy in the state of Queensland, Australia sold the academy to an associate.
2006: after building Hair Expo to the largest event for hair in the Southern Hemisphere (with 25,000 attendees) sold the business to Reed Exhibitions
2006: sold THD hair and Spa to an associate
2008: launched culturemag.com.au - a virtual gloabal hairdressing community site

Best way to spend a Sunday afternoon: watching the Brisbane Lions (cracking Aussie Rules football team) win at the ‘Gabba (hopefully)

Literary character who i can most easily identify with: Mr Toad (from Kenneth Graham’s Wind in the Willows)

Childhood memories: My emotional scars from attending a Catholic boys school

If you live could anywhere, where would it be? Eumundi, (Noosa hinterland, Queensland)
